The UAE is adopting the latest technology and strategies.
Etihad Rail is a national rail network that will help the country's ever-expanding industries, ushering in a giant rail project across the region.
Phase 1 of the project
The Etihad project started in 2009, the first phase was completed in 2016.
Phase 2 of the project
Etihad's rail network will be central to travel and business in the region. The plan is to connect the seven emirates with the five neighboring GCC countries.
The Etihad Rail network to connect the country will involve the capital Abu Dhabi, KIZAD, Port Khalifa, Port Jebel Ali, Sharjah, Ras Al Khaimah, Dubai and Fujairah on the east coast.
Different wagons will be used for the transport of goods depending on the type of materials.
Duration of the Etihad rail
Etihad Rail will run 1,200 km, the tracks connecting to the Saudi Arabian border to the south and touching Oman to the east.
What can be transported on trains?
It will be possible to transport from food to raw material for construction, and passenger transport is also part of the plan.
It is necessary to emphasize that the infrastructure has been developed to guarantee that the habitats of the animals are not affected in any way.
Another consideration was noise control, there are no road intersections so the train horns will only be used in emergencies. The tracks that have been used have no joints and the ballasts used absorb noise and energy.
